DANVILLE, AR – A mental evaluation has been ordered for a Greenwood woman charged in her child’s death.

The order came during a morning appearance in a Yell County courtroom for Brooke Floyd, 21.

A pretrial date in the case was set for Nov. 5, with a trial to follow on Nov. 15.

Brooke Floyd is charged with manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a minor.

In August, officials said Floyd’s 10-month-old son Harper Floyd died of “exposure and abandonment,” that followed an allegedly drug-induced incident in the Ouachita Mountains outside Danville that also ended in her husband’s death. Floyd is not charged in the death of Brian Floyd, 33.

When arrested in August, Floyd told deputies she and her husband had taken meth before driving with their son into a remote area off a road where their truck broke down.

Floyd’s arrest affidavit states that she and her husband had been hallucinating and believed they were being attacked by people following behind them and that they had tried to escape.
