Bryant Daycare Worker Accused of Abuse

News

BRYANT, Ark. – A local daycare worker is facing charges in a child abuse investigation.

The Bryant Police Department (BPD) identifies the worker as McKenzie Howell, 19.

Howell turned herself in Monday morning at the BPD and was arrested on two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1st Degree (Class D Felony).

Police say the investigation was conducted after the BPD followed up on a parent’s report to the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline regarding Kid’s Academy Daycare on Evans Loop.

“After investigators spoke with witnesses and reviewed the daycare’s security cameras, there was clearly enough evidence to obtain a warrant for Howell’s arrest,” said a BPD news release.

Howell was taken to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing and during a court hearing that followed she was given a $5,000 bond.

During the hearing, the Prosecuting Attorney called security video of the incident “egregious.” Officials say there were two victims but only one child was injured.
