MOUNTAINBURG, Ark. (KNWA) The city of Mountainburg hopes to create more space for its first responders after outgrowing its fire station.

Mayor Susan Wilson said the city has hired architects to design a new fire station at the end of town.

Right now, the Mountainburg fire station is attached to the city hall building in a space that is not adequate for their firefighters.

Mayor Wilson said, They literally have a two-bay garage and that’s it. They don’t have a classroom, they don’t have a kitchen, they don’t have anything to hold meetings. They depend on city hall.

Mayor Wilson says the city hopes to break ground by June 1, 2019.
