CONWAY, Ark. — City leaders have directed funds and grant money to update the 5th Avenue Park, which sits on the east side of Interstate 40.
Last year the city completed a few small upgrades, such as adding new bathrooms, but now they’ll be putting in more than half a million dollars worth of changes, such as adding a splash pad.
The hope is that the changes will bring more people, and new life, into the community.
“They need a place to take their kids to play, to where they don’t have to worry about them,” commented Ralph Shock, who lives in the area.
Bobby Kelly, who works for the city, added, “It will give folks in this neighborhood and this area of Conway options when it comes to activities this summer with their kids.”
Currently there is not a completion date for the renovations, but Kelly says if the weather stays nice, the city is pushing to be done by the summer.
