Craighead County Asphalt Company Catches Fire

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) – A Craighead County asphalt company caught fire on Wednesday morning.

Crews were called to County Road 202, just west of U.S. 49 in southern Craighead County, according to Jonesboro E911 Dispatch.

When crews first arrived, flames were shooting from the top of a building owned by Asphalt Producers, Inc.

A Craighead County deputy at the scene told KAIT the Valley View Fire Department quickly had the fire under control, but officials were concerned about several unidentified tanks on the property.

According to crews on the scene, the tanks are not marked, and they can’t get in touch with the business owner to find out what is contained in the tanks.
