CARLISLE, Ark. – Emergency personnel responding to a fire at a rice mill in Carlisle Monday afternoon say the blaze has been contained.
Officials with the Carlisle Fire Department said multiple trucks were on the scene of the fire at the Riviana Foods rice plant located on 400 West Main Street.
Representatives from the rice plant said there were no injuries connected to this fire and did not release any information on what could have started the blaze.
According to officials, the sprinklers did go off once the rooms in the building reached a certain temperature, but authorities asked for them to be turned off due to the amount of water coming out of the facility.
The chief counsel of the plant, Elizabeth Woodard, said that there will be structural repairs, but the building will not be reconstructed.
