Deputies Make Example Out of Drug House

Bismarck, AR – The shutdown of a major drug operation has the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office advertising their work.

They did it in the face of the home that used to house an “elaborate marijuana growing operation.”

Deputies with the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office say they’re making an example out of the home in Bismarck on Tupelo Trail by placing a sign in the front yard that reads in big block letters “Drug House Closed Down.”

The home housed what deputies referred to as an “elaborate marijuana growing operation.” During a child welfare search deputies smelled marijuana and eventually confiscated 35 pot plants, lights and a sophisticated watering system.

Neighbors say they’re glad to see something being done about the problem.

“It didn’t surprise me really,” Mattie Brown said. “We drove down to see the sign. I wanted to see what it said. Wouldn’t you be embarrassed. Just can’t figure it out.”

Mattie Brown has lived on the street for 58 years and used to own the property across the street where deputies made the drug bust. She says she suspected something illegal was going on and appreciated seeing the sign placed in the front yard.

Deputies took the sign down Monday (4/1) but said it won’t be the last time they do the exact same thing somewhere else. In fact we could see another example fairly soon, however they wouldn’t elaborate.
