SEARCY COUNTY, Ark. – A trailer truck picked up a load of charcoal dust Tuesday afternoon in Oxley Township just southeast of Marshall and the driver was unaware that the load had hot spots.
As a result between 30-40 fires were scattered about 35 miles from Leslie to Western Grove, according to the Searcy County Sheriff.
Sheriff Kenny Cassell said they have every fire department in the county battling the flames.
He adds that a couple of the fires are growing and they may be fighting the flames until the end of the night.
Most of the fires were small grass fires.
No structures were burned.
