Drugs Found in Siloam Springs Day Care, Owners Arrested

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (KNWA) – Two people who ran a day care have been arrested after officers found drugs in their possession on Sunday, according to the Siloam Springs Police Department (SSPD).

Police were called to the 1100 block of Country Lane for a welfare check, according to a news release.

Officers say Wayne and Barbara Hartley operated Little Darlings Day Care out of the home. 

While inside the home, authorities found what they believed were marijuana plants. 

Officers found 13 harvested marijuana plants, approximately two pounds of marijuana, 19 firearms, 75 grams of Kratom, and over $31,000 in cash.

The owners of the residence, Wayne and Barbara Hartley, were arrested and taken to the Benton County Jail. They have been charged with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Deliver, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

At this time the focus of the investigation remains on the aforementioned charges, SSPD says.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are also looking into any potential child endangerment that may have occurred.
