Emergency Quorum Court Meeting Called in Saline County

BENTON COUNTY, AR — A emergency Quorum Court meeting has been called tonight at 8:00 pm. The topic of Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington recent actions is the main concern of the court. Pennington was arrested on June 29, 2013, and charged with public intoxication and refusal to submit. Sheriff Pennington pled guilty in Saline County District Court on August 26, 2013, to public intoxication, a Class B misdemeanor and resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation and fined $2,500 for the public intoxication charge and $500 for the resisting arrest charge plus court costs. Sheriff Pennington has publicly admitted that he engaged in “inexcusable conduct,” has “failed our community,” and has “tarnished” the office of Saline County Sheriff.  An emergency Quorum Court meeting called for tonight at 8 pm to discuss the issues of Sheriff Pennington.
