Family Health: Generic Epi-Pen

News

After controversy over massive price hikes…. the company that sells Epi-Pen has announced a generic version.
Mylan says it will launch the first generic *epinephrine* auto-injector in a few weeks.
The generic will cost 300 dollars… which is half of what the brand costs.
It will be identical to the brand-name version. The auto-injector is pre-loaded with epinephrine… and is used when a person has a severe allergic reaction.

Most Americans with depression … are not being treated for it.

A new study of 46-thousand adults showed less than one third of people with symptoms of depression were receiving treatment.
and among those who were treated for depression … less than half were seeing a mental health specialist.
but over-treatment may also be a problem.
Researchers found more than two thirds of people taking depression medications — had no symptoms or serious distress.
