Update: Fort Smith homicide victim identified

FORT SMITH, Ark. – New information is being released about a Monday night homicide.

The Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD) says investigators are interviewing a person of interest in the case.

Also Tuesday, the FSPD identified the victim as Jose Ruben Botello. He was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.

Officers had been called to the scene shortly before 7:30 on North Greenwood Avenue.

No further details are being released.

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA) — One person is dead after being wounded in a Monday night incident.

The Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD) is investigating the homicide.

Police say the victim was bleeding badly when they showed up at a home in the 1400 block of North Greenwood and died on the way to the hospital.

It’s not yet known if the victim was stabbed or shot.

The victim’s name is not yet being released.

At last report, investigators were interviewing witnesses.
