LITTLE ROCK, AR — As the seasons change and many hunters put away their guns, sports enthusiasts, law enforcement and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission are asking people to think about gun storage safety.
With safety in mind, nature centers in Pine Bluff, Jonesboro, Fort Smith and Little Rock are taking advantage of a program offered by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
The program is called Project Child Safe.
The four nature centers, along with the help of local law enforcement agencies, will be distributing gun safety cables free of charge to each person visiting one of the nature centers this weekend who requests one.
Participating Nature Centers are:
• Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center, 8300 Wells Lake Road, Fort Smith on partnership with Fort Smith Police Department;
• Gov. Mike Huckabee Delta Rivers Nature Center, 1400 Black Dog Road, Pine Bluff;
• Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center, 602 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock in partnership with Little Rock Police Department; and
• Forrest L. Wood Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center, 600 East Lawson Road, Jonesboro.
