Students from eight Central Arkansas middle schools will join forces with professional engineers to build whimsical Rube Goldberg-style contraptions and compete in the Garver Chain Reaction Challenge. Schools participating in this #GarverChainReaction Challenge event at the State Capitol include:
· Beebe Middle School
· Bryant Middle School
· Cabot Middle School North
· Dunbar Middle School
· Henderson Middle School
· North Little Rock Middle School
· Robinson Middle School
· Russellville Middle School
Celebrating its 100th year, these schools are among 100 schools across the Arkansas-based engineering firm’s 11-state footprint to receive chain reaction STEM kits and monetary donations from Garver. In fact, 43 schools throughout Arkansas were selected for donations through the firm’s employee-driven GarverGives initiative.
Responding to a nationwide shortage of professional engineers, the firm hopes to inspire young learners to pursue future careers in engineering.
Through this interactive activity, students will gain a better understanding of STEM concepts, the engineering design process, critical-thinking skills, the importance of perseverance—and have a lot of fun along the way.
