LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Police are looking for a man reported to have been armed with a large silver handgun when he took about $300 cash from a local dollar store over the weekend.

It happened shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Family Dollar located in the 4500 block of W. 12th Street.

One of the workers told officers the suspect placed the gun on the counter and told them to give him the money from the drawer and safe, stated a Little Rock Police Department report.

The worker told police when they froze, the suspect reached into the register and took money from the drawer. On his way out, the suspect reportedly grabbed cash from a worker who was counting money at another counter.

Police say the suspect was described by witnesses as a black man in his 30’s about 6’0″ tall with a medium build. He was wearing a gray hat with a white towel underneath, a white t-shirt and blue denim shorts.

Witnesses told officers the suspect drove off in a white Jeep that had been parked on the west side of the building.
