HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. – A man is in jail after leading officers on a high speed chase.

The Helena-West Helena Police Department (HWHPD) says it happened around 8 a.m. Friday as the suspect was being pulled over in a traffic stop but then drove off.

The scene where the chase began is Plaza and South 9th Street.

Officers chased after a silver GMC Terrain, driven by Reginald Adams, 29.

The chase ended when Adams tried to make a left turn across the median on Highway 49 near Dorch Street.
That’s when police say Adams’ vehicle hit the right front side of a patrol car and continued across the median where his vehicle was boxed in by other police units.

Both Adams and the officer in the patrol car were treated by EMT’s at the scene and released. The accident is being investigated by the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office.

The HWHPD says Adams is wanted for questioning about a burglary at EZ Pawn. Police say he has an active warrant with the HWHPD and possible pending charges of aggravated assault on an officer, careless and prohibited driving, failure to comply, and possession of a controlled substance.
