HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - A suspect is in custody for a triple homicide after the Hot Springs Police Department (HSPD) receives a tip.
"Someone called the police department and said they had information on three homicides," says Cpl. Kirk Zaner with the HSPD.
On Tuesday evening, police went to 208 Nevada St. for a welfare check. Inside the house they found three bodies lying in pools of blood.
"The person that called us said these three people along with the suspect were at his house the day before, an argument ensued and they all left," Col. Zaner continues.
According to the caller, the suspect, Nicholas Lewondowski, 34, came back to his house later, saying he killed those three people.
Just over 12 hours after the bodies were found, police caught up with Lewondowski at a house across town on Little Mazarn Road.
"This was… I mean it woke everyone up in the neighborhood," says Bailey Farner, who lives near where the arrest took place.
People who live in the normally quiet neighborhood say early Wednesday morning was chaotic as a SWAT team took Lewondowski into custody.
"A police officer was actually in our driveway in the middle of stakeout or whatever," Farner adds.
Police say Lewondowski has a lengthy criminal history but mostly for thefts and other less serious charges. Now he's facing three counts of Capital Murder.
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - New details have been released about a triple homicide discovered on Tuesday at a local home.
According to an arrest affidavit released Wednesday afternoon of a man charged in the deaths (Nicholas Matthew Lewondowski, 34), these details were revealed about the incident that left three people dead. [The names of the victims have not yet been released].
Police were called around 5 p.m. Tuesday to meet with an individual "that possibly had information about a multiple homicide."
The person told police that his friend, Lewondowski had come to his home on Monday with three other people and that Lewondowski had gotten into an argument with the three before he left with them and headed to where one of them lived on Nevada Street. The argument was reportedly about someone in the group stealing some property from one of the other people.
When Lewondowski returned the next day to the other man's home, he told him that he had killed the other three people and asked for his help. The man told police he went to the Nevada St. home and nailed the doors shut then helped Lewondowski move the victims' vehicles to different locations. The only address the man was able to give police for where one of the vehicles was moved was a parking lot on Cherry Street.
The man said Lewondowski also asked for help "disposing of the bodies" and that he would contact him in a day or two. Lewondowski reportedly told the man they would "probably just burn the residence down."
When officers went to the home on Nevada St. they found the back door standing open before walking inside and finding the bodies of the three victims.
