Illegal prescription pills picked up in Dardanelle

DARDANELLE, Ark. – Police in Dardanelle make a major drug bust. Prescription pills, paraphernalia, and more were found at a home near the town’s high school.

Patricia Salacar feels safer in her home Thursday after Dardanelle Police Officers made the large bust at a home off Old Highway 7 Wednesday.

“I knew something was wrong with those people, especially since I have kids underage,” said Salacar. “I was looking outside my back window and my son said, ‘maybe it’s drugs.'”

Officers picked up a number of illegal prescription drugs. Salacar says she didn’t feel comfortable knowing this was in her neighborhood and down the street from the high school.

“There are a lot of kids around here, playing around and you never know what’s going to be next, selling drugs to little kids?” she asks.

Kerstyn Evants recently moved her business, Midtown Coffee, to Dardanelle. She says hearing about a recent uptick in drug arrests makes her comfortable opening a shop here.

“I feel safe here with the police officers taking care of the streets for us,” Evants said.

While these pills are picked up, Salacar says she hopes Dardanelle police will investigate similar crimes.

“It’s a good thing the police caught those people and i’m very happy to hear that.”
