Jane McDaniel, of Jonesboro, is the 2015 Josetta Wilkins Awards Individual honoree. Jane was honored with this award in 2005, which only begins to show how dedicated she is to the breast cancer cause. Jane is more than an advocate for early detection, she is a survivor and champion. Jane was one of the first women to advocate for screening mammograms. Her cancer diagnosis gave her insight into the need for screening mammograms and the importance of detecting cancer at its most treatable stage. As marketing director for St. Bernards Health System, Jane started a breast cancer education program called Reach & Teach. She pushed to get the first mobile mammography unit for St. Bernards to go into the surrounding communities and offer mammograms to women who otherwise would not be able to have one. Although Jane is retired, she continues to promote the importance of breast cancer screening and early detection. Jane also served on the Breast Cancer Control Advisory Board.
