LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A Jonesboro man was beaten, robbed and left naked on the side of the road early Saturday morning, police say.

Little Rock Police were called to the 400 block of Ferry Street around 12:20 a.m. after a woman said she noticed a person lying on the grass naked.

The 33-year-old victim from Jonesboro told officers he had been robbed. According to the police report, the victim told officers he had parked his car near the intersection of 3rd and Center before walking around. The victim made contact with the suspect on 8th and Cumberland.

The victim identified the suspect as Henry Gates, 47.

He said Gates asked him for money and showed a set of documents that he would be receiving social security income. The report states he and Gates continued to walk around together until they reached the intersection of Capital and Sherman where Gates’ demeanor changed and became violent.

The LRPD report says that Gates choked and punched the man, causing him to lose his strength. Gates then kicked him in the face and took his clothes. He also took the victim’s iphone, wallet, and car keys.

Officers note that the victim had minor injuries including a bloody nose and scratches on his arms.

Police could not find the suspect. The report states officers found a pair of man’s underwear in the street on East Capital and was stored as evidence.
