Environmental Quality Awards presented in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The governor handed out awards this morning to some of Arkansas’ top environmentalists. 

Companies across the state competed for the 2019 Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality Awards. 

The Stewardship Award went to Clearwater Paper. 

The Tech-E Award went to the Husqvarna group/ 

ANd the Energy Excellence Award went to Entergy Arkansas. 

Governor Asa Hutchinson says all of the finalists were winners because of the example they set for other industry leaders. 

“Encouraging the workforce to say we have a responsibility that’s beyond simply making a profit. It’s also a responsibility to sustain our environment and protect our resources,” says 
Gov. Asa Hutchinson.

A Little Rock Central High School student also won the agency’s science award for her invention that removes oil from water in an inexpensive and eco-friendly way.
