Freezing drizzle/rain possible in north Arkansas, Winter Weather Advisory issued

Local News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Winter Weather Advisory has been expanded to include more of north central Arkansas and extended until 6 p.m. CST Monday, February 8, 2021.

Van Buren, Stone, Izard, Cleburne, Independence and Sharp counties are among the latest counties to be added to the advisory area.

This morning there were multiple reports of freezing rain, drizzle, slick road conditions and accidents in north Arkansas. Freezing light rain and drizzle will remain possible in the area through the remainder of the day.

Freezing drizzle/light rain is possible today in north Arkansas and in northwest Arkansas.

When temperatures are below freezing and the drizzle or light rain occurs, a thin glaze of ice will be possible on roads and especially on bridges/overpasses. Since the precipitation will be light (only a few hundredths of an inch), no significant power outages are anticipated.
