Update: Teen girl held on $300k bond in Pope County murder

POPE COUNTY, Ark. — A 15-year-old girl is being held on $300,000 bond after being arrested in the investigation of a Thursday homicide.

That’s according to the Pope County Sheriff’s Office, which also released the victim’s name in the case on Friday afternoon.

He has been identified as Edward Eugene Arnold, 52, of Atkins.

Deputies say the teen is being held at the Yell County Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of 1st Degree Murder.

She appeared in court Friday morning where her bond was set and a hearing in circuit court was scheduled for July 29.

POPE COUNTY, Ark. — A homicide investigation is underway after a person is found dead.

The Pope County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a call early Thursday morning about a shooting in the 8000 block of U.S. Highway 64 East in Atkins.

One person was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
