HOLLYWOOD – American Idol Season 8 winner, Kris Allen just released a new album called, “Letting You In.”

The singer-songwriter says he penned a variety of ‘honest’ songs for the collection.

“The honesty is coupled with some fun too, so I really this record,” says Allen. “I feel like is the best so far and I’m really excited for people to hear it. The love songs are happy love songs. I have a good relationship, not perfect all the time, but so good and the rest of it is me dealing with personal stuff.”

Allen is gearing up to take his new tunes on the road.

“It’s going to be very extensive. We’re going to do the whole country,” says Allen.

He shared some big lessons learned during his time on Idol.

Allen says, “I learned when I was on Idol that it is the everything in life does not come easy. That show is not easy. I had a lot of fun doing it, but even if you feel you’re good at something, you still have a lot to work for. I had to get better. I knew when I got on the show there were talents that were I knew there were people that were better singers than me, but I knew I had something and I could bring it to the table, so I worked hard every week, somehow got through it and then even afterwards you learn that to fit in and to be the best you have to work at it every day.”

He offered this piece of advice for those looking to follow in his footsteps.

“I think advice as far as like music goes would just be, if you’re a singer, is just sing every day,” says Allen. “If you’re a song writer, do that. Pick up something every day. I pick up my guitar and I try to write something every day. Most of the time it doesn’t turn out, but that’s okay. At least you’re, like, summoning the creativity.”

And look for him at the big goodbye this farewell season.

Allen says, “I will be out there for the finale. I don’t know exactly what I’m doing. I think I will have some part in it, but I’m excited about it.”
