JACKSONVILLE, Ark. -- The Little Rock Air Force Base (LRAFB) is hosting more than 30 aircraft and 300 crew members in preparation of Hurricane Michael's arrival along the Florida panhandle.
This hurricane evacuation is a precautionary move. It will ensure these valuable assets are out of harm's way until they can return to their home station.
LRAFB, as a mid-size base, is equipped to support such an influx in a moments notice.
Colonel James Mott, First Special Operations Group Commander in Hurlburt Field, Florida says, "There's not a whole lot of these aircraft, so we want to protect them, and having a place to come like this with supporting cast is awesome. Great teammates up here."
The visiting planes and support staff are from bases in Florida and Georgia.
