Little Rock Man Remembers His Friend Nine Years After Murder; Case Remains Unsolved

Local News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- Thanksgiving morning nine years ago, a Little Rock mother found her son shot to death in the yard.  The case remains unsolved.

“Just got to keep on going,” says Tyrone Cooper walking through the cemetery where his friend Brandon Davis was laid to rest almost a decade ago.

Cooper says it’s hard to believe just how long he’s been going on without his friend.

Davis was shot and killed outside of his home on Dorchester Drive on November 25, 2009.  His mother found his body on the side of the house the next morning.

At the time neighbors told Little Rock Police they heard gunshots but it wasn’t unusual, and when they looked outside they didn’t see anything.

“It was just a complete shock to everybody,” says Cooper straightening the decorations around Davis’ grave.

Cooper has been going to the cemetery to visit Davis about twice a month for the last nine years.

“A lot of times I come out here and I won’t even say nothing, you know,” says Cooper.  “I just let him talk to me.”

He’s even kept the newspaper article from the day of the tragedy now yellowed and worn.

Cooper doesn’t want to keep looking back.  He wants the case to move forward, with justice served for the person who snuffed out Brandon’s chance to watch his son grow up.

“That’s a lot of hate for you to just say ‘I don’t want him to kiss his mama in the morning no more’,” says Cooper.

He hopes someone will remember something or feel compelled to come forward.

“Time brings change,” says Cooper thoughtfully.  “Somebody might want to try to cleanse their spirit or right their wrongs.”

LRPD says it’s still an open investigation.  If you have any information give them a call.
