FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) –A Fayetteville man was ordered to spend 20 years behind bars for Attempted First Degree Murder.

Landon Schilling pleaded guilty to the charge Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court.

Schilling shot his neighbor in the abdomen May 9, 2015 with a 9 millimeter assault rifle.  Police say the two got into an argument earlier that day, and racial slurs were exchanged.  The victim was standing in his doorway, with his wife and daughter standing behind him, when he was shot.

Schilling was initially charged with Attempted Capital Murder.
