HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – Authorities say a Heber Springs man shot and killed at his place of business had history with the alleged shooter.
People who live in the area say this isn’t the first time there has been an altercation between the two.
The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that back in August of 2007, Charlie Johnson shot David Hammonds because of what some say was a property dispute.
The sheriff says Johnson claimed self defense, evidence supported it and no charges were ever filed.
Court documents show there was also a civil case but that was later dismissed.
Hammonds is in jail being held for an investigation of capital murder, first degree battery, and commercial burglary.
