NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A North Little Rock man is mourning the loss of his best friend this evening and is now looking for answers.

Cody Funderburg says he’s been raccoon hunting in the woods near his home for his entire life but last night his dog Copper crossed a creek onto private property and before he could retrieve the animal someone on the property shot Copper three times, killing him just days before his eighth birthday.

“Man, I walked up on that dog last night, it was like coming up on one of my kids laying there. Makes you sick. It’s not… I wouldn’t wish that on nobody.”

Cody is asking anyone who may have information to come forward, he does not believe the shooting was accidental, adding the dog was wearing a flashing LED safety collar with GPS tracking.
