One Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting in Fort Smith

FORT SMITH, Ark. —  A police officer shot and killed a man during a domestic disturbance call Friday.

The deceased man is identified as 27-year-old Samuel Morris.

Fort Smith police responded to a call in the 5200 block of Johnson Street.

Officers say they confronted Morris, who was threatening a person with a knife.

The victim was able to break free.

Officers say they attempted to get Morris to drop the knife, but he refused.

An officer shot Morris.

He was taken to a local hospital, but died from his injuries.

The names of the officers have not been released.

The investigation is continuing.
