Police: Jacksonville Pre-K Placed on “Precautionary Lockdown” After Taxi Driver Reportedly Shot

JACKSONVILLE, Ark.- According to an official with the  Jacksonville- North Pulaski School District, police have the area near Homer Adkins Pre-K, and the school has the all clear to begin its normal dismissal process. 

The school district says only authorized parents with proper ID will be able to check out their children.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark.- Jacksonville Police confirm Homer Adkins Pre-K is on “precautionary lockdown” after a taxi driver is reportedly shot in the area. 

Authorities say the cab driver was shot during a robbery at a home on the 100 block of Finch Road, a neighborhood near the school. 

According to police, the cab driver had a customer in the car, and the customer pulled a handgun to rob him. The cab driver grabbed the gun and the two fought. Authorities say the gun went off, hitting the cab driver’s left hand. The suspect ran away after the shooting.

Police say they have found the weapon, but not the suspect. The suspect is described as a black man around 6 foot tall, wearing a grey hoodie and sweatpants.
