Police: Man Jailed in AR Linked to Killing of MN Woman

No formal murder charges yet filed against him

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - New details are being revealed about an Arkansas man's believed ties to a Minnesota murder.

An article published Friday on startribune.com states that Cristina Prodan was killed in Minnesota, her body was driven to New Orleans and then burned there by her ex-boyfriend, Joseph Porter, 25. The 27-year-old Edina woman was reported missing by her mother on Jan. 5.

Porter has been jailed in Little Rock at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility (PCRDF) since Jan. 10.

According to the startribune.com article, Porter had met Prodan on Facebook and had been living with her since last fall. He was arrested by Arkansas State Police last week at the Central Arkansas home he shared with his husband and was charged with stealing a car in New Orleans.

The article further states that the evidence was spelled out in the felony theft charge filed this week in Pulaski County, "and leaves no doubt among law enforcement that it was Prodan’s charred body that police found in a shipping container on Jan. 6, two days after she went missing. Final identification is pending."

Porter's booking record (see photo below) on the PCRDF website shows a charge of Theft by Receiving dated Jan. 17 which includes a bond amount of $500,000. Porter's jail record also shows a hold for U.S. Marshal dated Jan. 12 and a fugitive charge dated Jan. 18.
