Pope County Sheriff Asking For Help Solving Atkins Murder

POPE COUNTY, Ark. – A murder in a rural area of the state has investigators searching for clues. The victim was found shot outside a home near Atkins in Pope County. 
Questions surround what happened on a piece of property off Edwards Road around 1 a.m. on Monday.
Pope County Sheriff Shane Jones says deputies found Bruce Wayne Hurley, 49, shot in front of a home. He later died at a local hospital.
His family is now overcome with emotion as they clean up the property. 
Investigators are still piercing who was on the other end of the gun and are now asking for assistance.
“We’re going to need the public’s help on this. If you hear anything or see anything please contact the sheriff’s office,” said Jones. 
As the family grieves, investigators are chasing very lead they can. They believe someone knows something. 
“We got somebody out there running around the who knows about this crime and that’s the reason why we need to know. We need to get the families closure and we need to get the person in jail,” said Jones.
