FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A senior Razorback football player has been arrested on a DWI charge.
Ryder Lucas, 22, who plays defensive back, was pulled over around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at North College Ave. and East Joyce Blvd., according to a Fayetteville Police Department report.
Lucas had a reported BAC (blood alcohol concentration) of .09%, just over the legal limit of .08%. He is also charged with Careless Driving.
The Washington County Jail record for Lucas shows he was released on $935 bond and has an appearance scheduled for September in Fayetteville District Court.
According to the police report an officer began following a GMC Sierra after it crossed the center line.
“As the driver approached the expressway flyover, he crossed the white painted lane divider and drifted toward the flyover as if he was going to exit College Avenue. His vehicle almost struck the concrete structure of the bridge,” the officer noted.
When the vehicle was pulled over, Lucas was identified as the driver.
The officer noted “Lucas had a flushed face, bloodshot and watery eyes, and a strong odor of intoxicants” and said Lucas admitted he had been drinking whiskey before he pulled a bottle from the backseat and showed it to the officer.
In sobriety tests, police say Lucas swayed, could not follow the tip of the officer’s finger as instructed, lost his balance in a walk and turn test and could not perform the One Leg Stand Test.
