PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. – The reward for information on who killed a 30-year-old mother last week has been increased. It’s now up to $6,000.
Crimestoppers has increased the reward to $5,000. The non-profit Women’s Own Worth added $1,000 to that amount. April’s family is hoping this will help anyone with information to come forward.
April Harris’ tight-knit family stands outside her Pulaski County apartment complex in the same place she was gunned down last week.
“We weren’t ready to let her go. We weren’t ready to let her go,” Amber said.
Amber is April’s sister. She’s surrounded by other family members. They are trying to grasp what happened early Friday morning.
“We can take comfort in knowing she had a happy life. We weren’t ready for it to be over,” Amber said.
April had four kids under the age of 10. Amber says the five-year-old, who was shot that morning, is doing okay.
“The children are what’s most important right now and we are staying strong for the children,” Amber said.
They say they have no idea who ended her life.
“I wish she could wake up and tell me who did this to her. Who was it?” Amber asks.
“It did not appear to be a robbery. Don’t know why the gunman approached her and shot her,” Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Cody Burk said.
Her family is still grieving with the loss of the young mother.
“I could have taken the bullet for her so she didn’t have to take it. I could have did that for her so she could have seen her kids grow up. They are such good kids,” Amber explains.
They are hoping someone, somewhere helps authorities piece this crime together.
“We are not going to rest until we get justice,” Amber said.
