Shot while playing basketball, teen tells LR police

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A teen boy is recovering after police say he was shot while playing basketball on Thursday afternoon.

The Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) says it happened around 5 p.m. on the city’s southwest side. 

Officers were called to investigate after the 18-year-old arrived at UAMS for treatment.

The scene of the shooting was described as an abandoned church near Scott Hamilton Drive. The teen told police the suspect fired the shots from a black sedan.

Police say the victim had gunshot wounds to his chest muscle and hip.
