PULASKI COUNTY, Ark.-Two Pulaski County deputies are still in the hospital after a suspect attacked them, stole one of their patrol cars and lead them on a chase.
Officials were able to stop the suspect in front of Camp Robinson in North Little Rock.
The suspects name has not been released. He was also injured and is expected to be okay.
The pursuit ended near Donovan Briley and Military Drive in North Little Rock.
“He rammed one of our police vehicles and then struck another vehicle,” Lt. Matt Kornas said.
It all started after deputies say the suspect kept calling 911.
“We are not sure if this subject had something wrong mentally or if he was on some sort of narcotics,” Lt. Kornas said.
Deputies made contact with the suspect and asked him to stop.
“Immediately when deputies left the scene he started calling 911 again,” Lt. Kornas said.
The suspect left in a car, deputies pulled him over during a traffic stop and that’s when things took a turn for the worse.
“He began to struggle with the deputies, gained control of one the deputies vehicles and fled the scene with other deputies in pursuit,” Lt. Kornas said.
After a short pursuit around the North Little Rock area deputies spiked the stolen vehicle and flattened one the tires.
The two deputies and the suspect were taken to a hospital. Officials say the situation could have been a lot worse.
“This is one of our times that we have to sit back and thing about the actions that we took and to make sure this doesn’t happen again,” Lt. Kornas said.
