Update: EF-1 tornado destroys home in North Arkansas, traps man inside

MARION COUNTY, Ark. – A storm that demolished a home south of Yellville early Thursday has been determined to have been a tornado.

The National Weather Service says the twister that touched down in Marion County was rated EF-1 with winds up to 120 mph.

MARION COUNTY, Ark. – An early morning storm has destroyed one home and left others damaged in Marion County.

KY3-TV in Springfield reports that crews rescued a man who was trapped inside the destroyed home for about 45 minutes. He is reported to be okay.

The scene is about 11 miles south of Yellville.

A strong line of storms had rolled through the area around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Storm reports from the National Weather Service also report at least two other people had been trapped in their homes in the area. At one point, downed trees and power lines were blocking Hwy. 14 south near Yellville. Fallen trees were reported on at least two homes, the NWS damage reports noted.
