Update: Man Dead After Shooting in Monticello

MONTICELLO, Ark. –A Monticello murder suspect is in police custody Sunday after officers say he shot and killed a man after a night club fight.

The Drew County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old Charles Dobbins is now behind bars in connection with the shooting death of Hunter Laney.

Investigators say the pair was asked to leave the club after getting into an argument.

The men then drove to a nearby gas station where deputies say Dobbins fired shots into Laney’s car, hitting two of the three people inside.

A woman who was hit was treated and released from the hospital.

(Original story) MONTICELLO, Ark. — Police are looking for the person responsible for a deadly shooting in Drew County.

A man was killed and a woman injured.

It happened in a gas station parking lot off Highway 278.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Hunter Laney of Pine Bluff.

It apparently started with a fight at a Monticello night club.

Monticello Live reports security made the parties leave, and all involved got into two separate vehicles.

They traveled a short distance to the parking lot where the shooting occurred.

A handgun was fired into the victim’s vehicle striking two of three people inside.

The driver was shot multiple times.

A female passenger was struck in the back and was treated and released at Drew Memorial Hospital.

Another passenger in the same vehicle was uninjured.

All three victims are from the Rison and Watson Chapel area, according to Monticello Live.

Police are looking for the shooter, who was traveling in a light colored SUV at the time of the shooting.
