Update: Robbery suspect shot by store clerk in Jacksonville dies, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – The man shot by a store clerk in Jacksonville Thursday night has died.

Police say he was removed from life support Friday.

The identity of the man has not been released.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – A robbery suspect has been shot by a store clerk, police say.

The Jacksonville Police Department (JPD) says it happened shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday at 1530 West Main Street.

Officers were told by the clerk that a man walked in and put a handgun on the counter, then demanded money.

The clerk then grabbed their own gun kept behind the counter and fired a shot toward the suspect which wounded him.  

The suspect was taken to the hospital but there’s no further word on his condition.
