No new evidence found in the search, the sheriff says

BEEBE, Ark. -  White County Sheriff Phillip Miller addressed Douglas Kirk's mother Friday afternoon to let her know the search didn't turn up any new evidence in the cold case.

Family and friends of Douglas Kirk, who has been missing out of McRae since 1995, gathered to watch investigators search earlier today.

BEEBE, Ark.- The White County Sheriff's Office is executing a search warrant in connection to a cold case.

“I got a call from a good friend saying they was down here doing a little excavating,” says Keith Kirk, whose brother, Douglas Kirk, went missing in August 1995.

This isn’t the first time he’s come to the Ace Hardware parking lot in Beebe with high hopes.

“They’ve been out here before and didn’t find nothing,” he continues.

The White County sheriff says investigators are using heavy equipment to search part of the parking lot for forensic evidence linked to one of the county’s cold cases.

“We are here today acting on some new information we recently obtained that led us to being able to obtain a search warrant signed by a judge,” explains Phillip Miller, White County Sheriff.

Keith believes the search is connected to his brother.

“I’ve come to realize it’s a good possibility he’s dead,” he adds.

Keith says his family has struggled for years with no answers. He hopes the search will provide new evidence so they can finally have some closure

“It’d give you relief and a comfort to bring him home and put him where you could go talk to him. Take a flower,” he says.
