PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Pine Bluff police are meeting some challenges pinning down whoever is responsible for a Saturday night shooting that injured four people and killed one.
Officers were called to a home at the intersection of 25th Avenue and Indiana Street around 9 p.m.
Police have not released suspect information, saying they need witnesses to come forward and help. According to police dozens of people were at the house during the shooting happened and others were at an apartment complex across the street.
“We’ve gotta get these people off the streets,” said Officer Richard Wegner with the Pine Bluff Police Dept. “In order to solve crimes of this nature we have to have assistance from the public especially from witnesses who were actually at the scene when it occurred.”
Neighbors are fed up with gunshots piercing their community.
“Shooting, get shot. That happens all the time around here,” said Calvin Washington, who lives on the block. “You’re gonna hear shots ring all the time.”
The 20-year-old says he wants no part of the senseless violence.
“A gun don’t make you no man, anybody can pull a trigger,” he said. “You don’t control were you grow up at you just got to deal with it. I’m going to work my hardest to get out of here, but at the same time I’m going to do what I got to do to survive myself.”
Police have not released the names or ages of the victims, but say all were adults.
Officers say there was a child in the home during the shooting and they were taken into protective custody.
