LITTLE ROCK , AR — Little Rock’s Midtown community is where leader’s plan to build a new research and technology park.

Thursday, the park’s authority announced three possible locations, within Midtown, where the center could be placed.

“They are all are between the 3 research institutions, which is UALR, UAMS, and Arkansas Children’s Hospital,” said member Dickson Flake.

Leaders say they hope to build an urban park, similar to that in Winston Salem, North Carolina. It will sit on about 30 acres of land and eventually hold 40 companies. Each location would require board members to pay families to move out.

Resident Connie Hamzey says her stuff is packed.

“I’m ready to go. I’m ready to be bought out. Bring it on,” said Hamzey.

But others, like Idell Mosley, say they have invested too much into their homes, and even more into their communities.

“I’ve been in my home for 30 years and I don’t want to go. I don’t want to go,” said Mosley.

Board members say a final decision likely won’t come until the middle of next year.
