LR police investigating homicide, two others shot on Cross Street

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-A violent start to the day for Little Rock, as police investigate the city’s 15th homicide this year.

Officers were called to Cross Street near Roosevelt Avenue.

They found Jose Castro sitting inside a car who would later die, two others were wounded and are in critical condition.

People who live blocks away from where the shooting happened said violence happens everywhere, but just knowing it was so close leaves them a little concerned.

“I need a socket set,” Clarence Allen said.

“I’m a definitely going to figure it out I’m a can do type of person,” Allen said.

Wednesday morning Allen was trying to figure out something else.

“I heard…it was a males voice I heard,” Allen said.

Just a few minutes later.

“I heard gunshots and then right behind it you could tell it was a different gun being used like pow pow, then boom boom,” Allen said.

He came outside and Little Rock Police had Cross Street near Roosevelt blocked off.

Police found Castro inside a car with gunshot wounds. Officers perform CPR, but the man died from his injuries.

“For real when I heard the shots I didn’t know someone would wind up dead right behind them shots,” Allen said.

Two other people were sent to the hospital in critical condition.

“It’s crazy we can’t get tired of it because it’s inevitable death is inevitable but us steadily taking our own lives from one another that’s the worst part about it,” Allen said.

Allen says it’s a problem he can’t fix.

“Because crime is everywhere,” Allen said.

Police are still looking for the suspect. They say he was driving a dark Blue Chevrolet Camaro.

If you know anything about the shooting call police.
