LITTLE ROCK, AR– Saturday, a community remembers Juneteenth, the historic day signaling the end of slavery in 1865.

Mosaic Templars Cultural Center planned today’s event, which leaders say allows the community to honor a very big day in American history.

“I think Juneteenth is vital for not just the African American community, but our entire global society because it reminds everyone that a very important people had a history,” said participant Fleming Ivory.

Planners say today also allows America’s past to meet it’s present.

“One thing we want to tell people is that Mosaic Templars celebrates our heritage everyday. We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 to 5. The main thing is that admission is totally free. It’s always free,” said center spokesperson Jennelle Crimm.
