LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. (News release) – Airmen from Team Little Rock gathered to honor Senior Airman Shawn A. McKeough Jr.’s life and commitment to service at a ceremony at Little Rock Air Force Base, March 29.
The ceremony, which began at 9 a.m. at the base chapel, allowed those in attendance a chance to offer their respects to McKeough, who was killed during an attempted robbery March 15 at a gas station in North Little Rock.
“Let today be a celebration of the kind of warrior spirit that defines us as Airmen and that ultimately guided Shawn’s last act of courage,” said Col. Gerald Donohue, 19th Airlift Wing commander. “He was relentless and determined, and he embodied our ideal of service before self, even to the end. It’s no mistake then to know that the type of Airman Shawn was gives us a lens through which we remember him in memoriam.”
The investigation into McKeough’s death is ongoing.
