LRPD Releases Name of Pilot Injured in Chopper Crash

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A chopper pilot for the Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) remains hospitalized after a Thursday morning helicopter accident.

A Friday morning news release issued by the LRPD identifies the pilot as retired Officer William (Bill) Denio. He was hired by the department in May 1990 and served until May 2010.

In Jan. 2012, Denio was hired as a civilian pilot in the LRPD’s Aviation Unit.

“We ask that you continue to keep him and his family in your prayers,” the release states and describes Denio’s condition as stable.

The chopper accident happened around 11 a.m. along Ironton Cut-Off Rd. in south Pulaski County.

A second person on board the helicopter was not injured.
