LITTLE ROCK, AR – A man has been arrested after allegedly beating his girlfriend.

Police were called to the Fair Park Gardens apartments on Fair Park Blvd. shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday.

That’s where residents had reported hearing a commotion and told officers they believed a woman was being beaten inside her home.

Officers knocked on the door but got no response. They then went inside another apartment and heard the disturbance in the above apartment.

After hearing a woman yell “someone call the police,” officers forced their way inside and found the victim and suspect in a bedroom.

The incident report noted the 24-year-old woman was in distress and had cuts and bruises on her face, arms, neck and back. The report also stated that the suspect had blood on his shirt.

The suspect was ordered to get on the floor and officers handcuffed him. A search of his pockets reportedly turned up a large sum of cash in small bills, along with several small bags of marijuana, pills and powder cocaine. Police also found a pistol in the bedroom closet they say had been reported stolen from Lonoke County.

Oliver Williams, 27, of North Little Rock was placed under arrest and taken to jail.

The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The jail record for Williams notes charges of theft of property, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, aggravated assault on a family of household member, possession of firearms by certain persons, and a hold for parole.
