SEARCY, AR — Officers with the Searcy Police Department (SPD) arrested a robbery suspect Thursday night after they say they found him hiding in the bushes wearing a leopard print bra and leotard shorts.

Officers responded to a robbery call around 9:30 p.m. at Dollar General in the 1700 block of West Pleasure, where witnesses told them a man dressed in women’s clothing stole several items and used a “shank” to demand money, then left the store with the stolen merchandise and less than $200, according to police.

SPD says about 20 minutes later, officers spotted a man, later identified as 53-year-old Elbert Johnson, hiding in some bushes wearing a leopard-print bra and leotard shorts.

After trying to run away and eventually fighting with officers, Johnson was apprehended. During a subsequent search, officers found items from Dollar General and some cash.

Johnson was taken to the White County Detention Center, where he was charged with aggravated robbery, along with a parole violation hold from another county.

He remains in White County Jail on $100,000 bond.
