INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, Ark. (White River Now) – An arrest warrant has been issued for a woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the throat during an argument Monday morning in Cushman, according to the sheriff’s office.

White River Now reports that the Independence County Circuit Court records show Ashley Nicole Lewis, 25, has been charged for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Nathan Franks, in the throat.

Franks told deputies with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office that Lewis physically attacked him. He said he first thought Lewis had only punched him with her fist, but then realized he had been stabbed with a small folding-blade knife.

A witness in the home told authorities he did not see the incident but did see Lewis run out the door and across the yard. The witness added that when he saw Franks step out of the bedroom with a puncture wound, he administered first aid to him. At the time Franks refused profession medical care. According to White River Now, it was not until later in the day that law enforcement was called after Franks was treated at a hospital.

The circuit court has charged Lewis with first-degree battery with a $25,000 bond.
